August is National Breastfeeding Month!!
I know we are almost half way through this month but if you didn't know it is National Breastfeeding Month. I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) because I love to educate my new moms about the benefits of breastfeeding as well as helping them with breastfeeding challenges (starting, pumping, latch difficulty etc..). I also seem to do tons of education at my Newborn sessions ((naturally we end up talking breastfeeding))!
I support all feedings, but am very passionate about breastfeeding and helping normalize this practice.
This first link is to WIC homepage. WIC is a nutritional program for Women, Infants and Children with goals of supporting successful breastfeeding.

Within this site there is so so much information. Starting with the basic of breastfeeding and why it is a benefit for all. Then it goes into specifics of how breastmilk is made, how to have the perfect latch, pumping, family dynamics, and even alcohol and drug use during pregnancy.
Here are my top 5 favorite topics ((Click topics to follow a link!))
-How breast milk is made and the stages of breast milk
-Steps and Signs of a Good Latch
