Preparing for you Photo Session!
First step of course is picking the perfect photographer for you! We will discuss this in another blog, how to pick the perfect photographer!
Book the date, pay the deposit and sign the contract. Your biggest hurdles are complete! Now what do I do?! Here is a step by step process to help you prep for your upcoming session!
Things To Do Before Your Session:
Make hair, nail, and/or makeup appointments for before your session. Normal nail colors or natural nail colors. Bright colors will clash and draw attention to just that area. Don’t get a new cut or color that is not your norm. Do this after your session. You don’t want an uncomfortable new look.
Plan your outfits at least a week before. If you need to purchase something do so 2 weeks or so before to give time for them to be delivered and tried on.
Prepare your kids (and husband!) with laid-back, low-key references to let them know what’s happening. Tell them you will be “hanging out with our friend Laci on Saturday!” or “going to the park to play!” Make sure you include where and what I will be doing.
Think of anything special you would like to include or even a specific pose to recreate from past sessions to help show yearly change/memories of growth.
Most importantly, A good night’s sleep and or nap before hand. Don’t nap an hour before or on the way… child may be cranky and not happy if woken. Also EAT before!! Don’t come to your session hungry!
Have a few drinks before or bring drinks!! Relax!
How to Dress for Your Session:
Dress for the weather!
Don’t wear matching clothes—wear colors in a complimentary color palette (Style Guide coming soon!!!)
No tennis shoes, sloppy T shirts, or shirts with writing on them! Tell hubby he has to dress up this one time. NO ball hats.. they cover your face!
Pay attention to underwear and bras! Colors, straps and fit!
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes you can move in. We may be walking to different locations as well as you don’t want to wear brand new shoes that you can’t move in for posing. Dresses should be medium or long in length. You will thank me and when sitting down you wont have any problems.
Accessories are a must!
What to Bring to Your Photo Session:
Moms are already super prepared, and you know your family better than anyone on Earth, so you probably have your own tricks for managing your little ones! But here’s a few things you might want to add to your list:
Make-up or personal items for hair touch ups- lipstick, gloss, hair brush, hair spray, bobby pins or whatever you need.
Snacks on snacks on snacks, and TREATS! Kids get hungry and this will help keep them happy.
Couples… Bring beer, champagne, wine or whatever!! Let’s celebrate! lol
