National First Responders Day! | Oklahoma Newborn and Wedding Photographer
Today we celebrate all First Responders around the Nation!
The definition of a first responder- someone designated or trained to respond to an emergency. This includes but is not limited to Firefighters, Police officers, EMS responders, Nurses, Doctors, and Military.
I personally want to think all First Responders for your dedication and service. I know so much goes into your job and the sacrifices you take daily to help protect, serve and care for others. Your heart is so big, you are a blessing to all around you! You have dedicated your life to responding to all emergencies.
I have been a First Responder significant other for years as well as a nurse. We are constantly learning and increasing our skills to respond to all emergencies that are presented to us as well as care for others in the best way possible.
My Firefighter hubby is constantly training and teaching skills to others. They train at the station as well as attend outside classes to make sure they are flawless while under pressure and up to date on the safest skills that keep themselves safe and the one they are caring for. Mentally they are the strongest persons I personally know! They see the worst of the worst and it is non stop each day!
Firefighters spend half their time with their brothers and sisters at the Fire Station. They honestly may spend more time there than they do at home with their family. They work long hard shifts! Schedules are different all around the nation honestly.
Nurses have another special spot in my heart. I feel they are the back bone to medicine. they are there all through the process of patient care, beginning to end plus everything in between! Shifts very from specialty, most common are 12 hour shifts, days and nights! I am so thankful for those nurses who work night shift!!! They work when no one else wants to work and are special in emergencies with limited resources compared to day shifts. They work faster and harder!!!
As a nurse I am trained in many areas, but have dedicated most of my time with mommas and babies. I have dedicated my skills to learning how to care for laboring mothers and newborn babies. I have taken classes on monitor readings, labor emergencies, newborn stabilization, complicated deliveries, and postpartum care. I feel in love with lactation and became a certified lactation consultant after completing required lactation education hours and taking an international certification exam. This is truly my favorite because not all deliveries are rainbows and butterflies. Not all individuals have access to safe clean environments for caring for their newborns. Breastfeeding is one of the safest and cheapest way to support a newborn in all situations.
Again THANK YOU FIRST RESPONDERS!!!
